Joy Mining Machinery salutes the conscientious, foresighted members of the mining industry who, with their firm dedication to environmental preservation as they extract the earth's ores and minerals, have helped make environmental progress a reality. Acknowledging that they are but temporary custodians of the lands they harvest, they adhere strictly to prescribed environmental measures, and in some instances innovatively advance beyond them. Air and water quality is carefully monitored and safeguarded during mining. Exhausted sites are effectively restored to near original condition or better for propagation of crops, grazing land or wildlife.
Mining companies spend billions of dollars each year in environmental compliance and cooperation.
At Joy Mining Machinery we make environmental stewardship a key part of internal priorities, values and ethics, and lead by example. The following represent key examples of Joy Mining Machinery’s environmental stewardship:
Globally, Joy Mining Machinery has removed 99% of its underground storage tanks, thus eliminating the potential for any groundwater and soil contamination.
All US Operations have achieved a hazardous waste generator status of either Small Quantity Generator (SQG) or Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG). By achieving these waste management classifications and utilizing sound waste management practices, our US Operations have greatly reduced their environmental impact, decreased disposal costs and have become better environmental citizens within the communities we operate in.
All US Operations utilize aqueous (water) based paint in their coatings operations. Through utilization of these aqueous coatings significant air emissions reductions, waste minimization and pollution prevention initiatives have been realized.
Joy Mining Machinery – Homer City Operations proudly received the Pennsylvania Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence. This award is provided to operations throughout the state that demonstrate exceptional environmental performance
Installation of closed loop wastewater recycling system at Lebanon, KY – Service Center. Closed Loop recycling systems provides zero discharge of process wastewater.
